Joe Walsh song writing is, to say it gently, non homogeneous.
Some songs are brilliant some are not. The Smoker is an exception
Maybe because the other members of his band at the time,
Barnstorm. contribute songs to it. The outcome is a varied Album
With Folk, Jazz, Blues and even Caribbean elements which makes
The Listener interest deeper than usual.

I just discovered the song Meadows. Great track! Not written by Joe Walsh, but the drummer I discovered. I heard it on the local classic rock station. When I first heard it I didn't know who it was. I thought the opening guitar riff sounded like Paul McCartney and Wings, but by the vocal I knew it wasn't. I also think the main hook kinda sounds like an early Steely Dan kinda thing. It all melds together really well. Do you know if Joe Walsh sings the lead vocal, or if it's the guy who wrote it?
I believe it is Joe Vitale, the writer of the song. btw his playing
synth and other keyboards beside the drums.
